PVL: Nxled thumps PLDT as Van Sickle returns
MANILA — Nxled thumped PLDT as three-time MVP Brooke Van Sickle returned to action, 25-16, 25-20, 25-18, in the Siklab series of the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
It was a triumphant return for the Fil-American star spiker, who makes her way back after sitting out the preseason tournaments to recovery from an injury.
Van Sickle led with 11 points dealt mostly on attacks, while adding eight excellent digs.
Myla Pablo and Jackie Acuña added nine markers each, as Nxled dominated the attacking department, 50 to PLDT’s 27, which enabled by multi-awarded Gel Cayuna with 14 excellent sets.
“As I told 2,000 times, we try to be better and better and better. And today we show some more improvement. So we are really happy,” said Coach Ettore Guidetti during the postgame press conference.
For Guidetti, it was continuing what they started as silver medalists in the recent 2026 Invitational.
“Well, I was saying to the guys that it’s nice to see you again. So we continue from where we finished. That was the Invitational Final. So for us it’s simply a continuity game.”
On the other hand, it was a lousy start for the High Speed Hitters, already dropping to a 0-1 card.
Savi Davison had 10 in total in the match that lasted for only one hour and 26 minutes.
