PVL: Brooke Van Sickle thrilled to return for Nxled, proud of team’s Invitational silver
Brooke Van Sickle of the Nxled Chameleons. PVL ImagesMANILA — Brooke Van Sickle on Tuesday has returned to Premier Volleyball League (PVL) action after recovering from an injury.
After sitting out the preseason, the three-time PVL MVP is expected to steer Nxled, which is coming from a silver medal finish in the 2026 Invitational.
“It’s really good to be back. I mean, no athlete likes to be injured, right?” said Van Sickle in the Chameleons’ demolition of PLDT, 25-16, 25-20, 25-18, to open their Siklab campaign in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
She was grateful for the support she received from the team as she recuperated just in time for the new season, although she admitted the regret of not playing for the squad during its recent finals stint.
“During the time, I mean, it was really tough at moments, but I had the support of my coaching staff and our teammates, too, and management and ownership,” Van Sickle shared.
“So, the process was bittersweet. They supported me every step, so it was easy that way. But then, you know, missing the game and having to watch from afar,” she added.
“But, I’m still proud that everyone pushed themselves, especially during the Invitational, coming into this conference.”
