Abi Marquez becomes guest judge for ‘MasterChef Asia’

Filipino content creator Abi Marquez fulfilled a childhood dream after joining MasterChef Asia as a guest judge.

On her Instagram page, Abi shared photos from the show, including a snapshot with its judges, chefs Edward Kyun Lee, Kelvin Cheung, and “Pam” Pichaya Soontornyanakij.

“STILL CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!!!! I had the chance to step into a kitchen I’ve dreamed about SINCE I WAS A KID 😭❤️ ,” she posted on Tuesday, October 13.

She also invited her followers to watch her appearance on the show.

“I can’t wait to finally share this with you.  Catch me on the upcoming episode of MasterChef Asia TONIGHT at 9pm (8pm BKK/JKT) on TLC Southeast Asia. Stream on HBO Max,” she said.

Fans online were quick to react to the news.

“OMGGG SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!” one fan commented.

“OMG GRABE KA IDOL,” she said.

In a teaser released by TLC Southeast Asia, Abi was introduced as a guest judge for the show’s fourth episode, which challenged contestants to transform six iconic Asian drinks into desserts.

“Today’s challenge is all about innovation. We took six drinks that are the most iconic across Asia and challenge the contestants to make a dessert out of these drinks. And innovation or playing with your food to come up with something unique, and surprising, and satisfying is something that I love doing in my own kitchen,” Abi explained in the video.

The Filipino content creator also shared what she would be looking for in the contestants’ creations.

“I think the most important thing that I’m looking for judging this challenge is to be able to see and taste the essence of that drink in that dessert. I want to be able to take a bite of that dessert and say, ‘Ah! This is salabat!'” she stated.

The latest season of MasterChef Asia premiered on September 22 and features 10 episodes.
