Janine Gutierrez gets real about women’s intuition, red flags, and relationship dealbreakers in “The Loyalty Session”

Trust is easy to give but much harder to keep. In “The Loyalty Game: Level Up,” love and deception collide for married couple Ana (Janine Gutierrez) and Ben (Jericho Rosales), whose seemingly perfect relationship begins to crumble as Ana becomes consumed by doubts about Ben’s faithfulness. Seeking answers, she turns to loyalty testers, only to find herself entangled in far deeper conflicts than she ever anticipated.

As their characters navigate a web of manipulation and mistrust, the female cast of the Kapamilya suspense-filled thriller—including Carmina Villarroel (Imelda), Maika Rivera (Carlota), Kira Balinger (Angel), Sofia Andres (Beth), Elisse Joson (Bridgette), and Yen Santos (Diane)—open up about trust, commitment, and fidelity in a sit-down discussion titled “The Loyalty Session.”

At the forefront is Janine, whose heartfelt and insightful reflections bring depth to the conversation. The discussion begins with red flags, with Janine candidly admitting that she has sometimes ignored warning signs because of her love for someone.

Reflecting on her experience, Janine shared how dismissing red flags can become a recurring pattern, with life seemingly teaching the same lesson until one finally learns from it. “Minsan mabibiktima ka pa rin ng red flags,” she said.

As the girls continued answering questions and sharing their perspectives, Janine often found herself agreeing with her co-stars. Soon, the spotlight turned to her, giving her the opportunity to share her thoughts on a question of her own.

When asked which hurts more—being lied to or being replaced—Janine didn’t hesitate to choose the former. For her, being replaced is a natural outcome when a relationship no longer works out, but being lied to cuts deeper. “Choice ’yon. Sana naging honest na lang siya na ayaw na niya,” Janine added.

When asked which character in “The Loyalty Game: Level Up” she believes would survive a loyalty test unscathed, Janine chose none other than Ana, the character she portrays. Playing the role gave her a deeper understanding of Ana’s unwavering devotion to her husband, Ben, despite the challenges their relationship faces.

However, even the strongest relationships can be tested by temptation and outside influences. “Minsan nabubulungan ka rin [ng ibang tao], ’di ba? May external factors. ‘Yung women’s intuition, dapat pinapakinggan,” she said.

As the discussion drew to a close, Janine shared what she hopes audiences will take away from watching “The Loyalty Game: Level Up” the importance of honesty. She emphasized, “Before you decide to marry someone or go into a long-term commitment, kailangan all cards on the table.”

She explained that this belief stems from the experiences of the characters themselves. “I think a lot of conflicts could have been avoided kung naging honest sa isa’t isa ‘yung mga characters sa mga worries nila, sa mga tanong nila,” she said.

Before the discussion wrapped up, co-star Elisse echoed Janine’s sentiments with a follow-up question: “All cards on the table, does that mean you have to know everything about your partner?” she asked.

Janine clarified that the goal isn’t to know every detail about one’s partner, but rather to be open about what matters most. She highlighted the importance of communicating expectations, establishing non-negotiables, and addressing concerns as they arise instead of allowing them to pile up over time. “’Wag n’yong i-ignore kasi darating sa point na magpapatong-patong at sasabog,” she affirmed.
