New journey, new characters, and other things that excite Coco Martin about Gabo’s taxi driver era in “Sigabo”
From being an ex-convict and unemployed, our well-loved Kapamilya primetime hero Gabo is entering his new era in “Coco Martin’s Sigabo” as a brave and extraordinary taxi driver!
After initially struggling to find a decent job following his emancipation from prison, Gabo has finally found a source of income that his loved ones, most especially his wife “Gloria” (Julia Montes) can definitely be proud of.
However, as avid viewers know, this job is merely his cover because he’s actually a secret agent of Anino—a vigilante group on a mission to help the Philippine government combat rampant criminality across the country.
And in the 82nd episode of “Coco Martin’s Sigabo” aired on October 13, we’d witnessed Gabo finally undergo orientation with Paps and other core members of Anino after accepting his latest mission.
Paps showed him the “super taxi” that Gabo is about to use, which features a bullet-resistant body and state-of-the-art security, communication, navigation, and surveillance systems, as well as built-in weapons and equipment that could help Gabo escape dangerous situations and defend himself when necessary. With how awesome the features are, Gabo couldn’t help but marvel as he inspected the vehicle and compared himself to James Bond.
Aside from showing Gabo his super taxi and having him wear his uniform, the Anino core members also introduced to him his first target: business tycoon Raul Montero (Ricardo Cepeda). His group is believed to be the culprit behind the series of abduction among women.
While Raul may be the mastermind, a woman named Misty Manalo (Ina Raymundo), an associate of a modeling agency who is in charge of approaching and contacting their targets. Although she has no known criminal record or paper trail linking her to Raul’s network, her repeated appearance in photos of the victims collected by Anino suggests that she may play a significant role in the operation—which the group has yet to confirm her involvement.
As a taxi driver, Gabo’s job is to keep an eye on Misty and observe her behavior and activities, since she frequently travels from one place to another and uses taxis to get around. However, Misty does not necessarily have to be his passenger every time, but he must find ways to be in the same places as her without attracting attention or arousing her suspicions.
The main priority of Gabo is to gain the trust of Misty and anyone else who may be affiliated with Raul’s group.
Before Gabo sets out on his mission, Paps warns him that he will be dealing with dangerous individuals who are a menace to society. Nevertheless, he urges Gabo not to be afraid or hesitate to do what needs to be done, reminding him that Anino has been granted the authority to respond with force, or even kill when needed.
As Gabo’s journey as a super taxi driver begins, the “Hari ng Aksyon sa Ating Henerasyon” enthuses about the things that excites him about the latest mission of his character, as well as working with actors who are set to join in the continuously unfolding narrative of “Sigabo,” in this CCM Film Productions video.
Coco excitedly shared that Gabo’s new mission as a taxi driver is to roam the streets to keep watch, find people in need of help, and fight crime and other unexpected incidents that unfold on the streets, day or night.
Along the way, Gabo will encounter people from different walks of life and across various socioeconomic backgrounds as he plies the busy streets of Manila.
This new chapter in Gabo’s life also allows Coco to work with actors he has long dreamed of collaborating with, as they take on diverse roles and portray different life stories in each mission.
According to Coco, viewers can expect to see Gabo interact with and face off against a wide range of people he encounters on the streets, bringing a variety of stories and experiences to life to the “Sigabo” narrative. Thus, he’s excited for many Filipinos around the world to see the next episodes.
“Maraming-maraming salamat po sa lahat ng mga Pilipino na walang sawang tumatangkilik sa ‘Sigabo’. Salamat po dahil mula umpisa hanggang ngayon ay kasama pa rin po namin kayo,” Coco conveyed.
He added, “Kayo ang dahilan kung bakit lalo pa po naming pinagbubutihan ang trabaho. Maraming salamat po.”
