Ombudsman confirms receipt, vows thorough evaluation of Sara Duterte SALNs
MANILA — The Office of the Ombudsman will evaluate Vice President Sara Duterte’s Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth to see if further action is warranted, it said Thursday.
In a statement, the office confirmed receipt of Duterte’s wealth disclosure from the National Bureau of Investigation, which has referred potential discrepancies in it to the Ombudsman.
NBI agents have turned over boxes of documents related to its investigation into Duterte’s alleged misdeclarations of her properties in her 2024 and 2025 SALNs.
“The referral and its supporting documents will undergo an initial evaluation to determine the appropriate action, including whether further investigation is warranted, in accordance with established procedures and applicable laws,” the Office of the Ombudsman said.
It also assured the public that the issue “will be handled thoroughly, independently and without any political color.”
The NBI on Monday presented photos and videos of properties allegedly linked to Duterte and her family and said some property declared as agricultural land reportedly had mansions, swimming pools and helipads.
Duterte has denied the allegation.
