“Magkaiba ang love sa trust”: Yen Santos opens up about betrayal and second chances

Kapamilya actress Yen Santos has built a career with memorable teleserye roles that continue to resonate with audiences. She takes on a new challenge in “The Loyalty Game: Level Up” as Diane Martirez, a loyalty tester and devoted single mother raising her son.

Stepping away from the high-stakes world of loyalty testing, Yen joins fellow cast members Janine Gutierrez (Ana), Carmina Villaroel (Imelda), Maika Rivera (Carlota), Elisse Joson (Bridgette), Kira Balinger (Angel), and Sofia Andres (Beth) in “The Loyalty Session.” In this discussion, the female stars of “The Loyalty Game” explore topics of love, trust, and commitment.

The conversation naturally turned to one of the biggest tests any relationship can face: betrayal. When asked if she would still choose to love someone after being betrayed, Yen admitted that she is a forgiving person and would be willing to stay in the relationship. However, she acknowledged that her trust in her partner would never be the same, explaining, “’Yung trust, mababawasan na. Magkaiba naman ang love sa trust.”

For Yen, truth matters more than comfort. She revealed that she would rather face a painful truth than be kept in the dark to spare her feelings. “Saktan mo ako sa katotohanan, tatanggapin ko ‘yon paulit-ulit basta ‘yon yung totoo, kahit gaano kasakit,” she said. Despite her willingness to forgive, Yen made it clear that she would no longer consider rekindling the relationship.

Her commitment to truthfulness is reflected in her relationship standards. Keeping her answer short but firm, Yen named honesty and transparency as her biggest non-negotiables. “Dapat totoo ‘yung tao sa akin, walang hidden situations,” she remarked.

When asked which cast member she relates to most in “The Loyalty Game,” Yen pointed to Diane, the character she portrays. “Kahit na marami siyang dala emotionally, she still functions and shows up for the people she loves,” she shared.

Amid conversations about heartbreak and second chances, Yen hopes viewers take away one important lesson from “The Loyalty Game”- never lose yourself in love. “Pwede kang magmahal nang sobra, pero don’t forget who you are,” she shared. She emphasized the importance of staying true to yourself and holding on to your individuality, whether you’re in a relationship or not.
