Karen Davila shows support for Josh Aquino: ‘Kung ang puso natin sana ay maging tulad nila’

Kapamilya broadcaster Karen Davila expressed her support for Josh Aquino following the insensitive remarks made against him by the hosts of Machong Chismisan. On her X (formerly Twitter) account, she recalled bumping into him recently with her son, David, who is almost the same age as him. 

Machong Podcast has since then apologized for their comments. 

“My son David & Josh are almost the same age. They knew each other as kids. We bumped into Josh recently and he has grown to become one of the kindest and sweetest of humans,” she wrote.

As a mother of a special child herself, Karen expressed how her son and Josh see the world differently from most of the people–– only the best traits and nothing else. 

“Thank God kids in the spectrum – like David & Josh – only see the world with purity, innocence, and love. They always see the best in everything and everyone. Kung ang puso natin sana ay maging tulad nila,” she said.

In a separate post, she shared her disappointment and frustration over the comments made by the podcast hosts. She claimed how “extremely stupid, ableist, and uninformed” the banter was between them. Karen reminded everyone that mocking disabled persons is also punishable by law. 

“This is the kind of extremely stupid, ableist, and uninformed level of banter that should not be given any kind of airtime or platform in today’s world,” she maintained. 

“Shame on all of you. You make me sick to my stomach. The title of the show itself was misogynistic in nature. Apologize to every parent and every neurodivergent child,” she continued. 

During the October 15 episode of TV Patrol, the Kapamilya broadcaster couldn’t help but share her thoughts about it once more. She hoped that other podcasts would learn from this moving forward.

“Yung pagbibiro na yun, yung isa medyo umalma sabi uy, below yan ah. Ang nakakainis, hindi nagalit yung ibang mga kasamahan nung sinabing walang kuwenta–– nag tawanan pa. Bakit kayo ganun? Ayan, naterminate kontrata niyo, pinapatawag kayo ng NBI, doon kayo magpaliwanag sa presinto,” she stated.
