Meet Mavi Tie, the self-confessed nerd vying for Ms. Chinatown Global PH
Mavi Tie. HandoutMavi Tie, one of the female candidates in this year’s Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Global Philippines 2026: The Search for the Next Chinoy Star, works in business development, property management, and does freelance brand design.
Despite being a neophyte in pageantry, the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Advertising Arts cum laude graduate is a multi-passionate woman.
How does wearing many hats complete her as a Chinoy woman of today?
Without flinching, she replied, “As a curious person and I love learning, for me, those skills that I have mastered or acquired throughout the years–it really add up to the person that I am.
“Being Chinoy, it adds to that as well since I have my values from being Chinese and being Filipino. I am grateful to have the best of both worlds because it equips me to deal with the many challenges that come my way.”
After years of being shy, she’s finally ready to put herself out there and share her voice.
“Pushing yourself to be the better version of yourself and take pride in your everyday wins is enough to empower you and other people,” she stressed.
She also sings Broadway and pop tunes, dances, acts, illustrates, plays sports, and organizes community service projects.
“I really love the arts. I love singing, dancing, and acting. I guess, my turning 30 made me realize that I played myself ‘too small’ but I have too much to give. It’s never too late really. Joining this pageant, it is relaying the message that it’s never too late for anyone to put themselves out there.”
As a self-confessed nerd with a 2,000-day streak on Duolingo and currently developing her own app, how does she intend to use her nerd-power, her Advertising Arts background, and her voice to create impact beyond the competition?
“Keeping myself to be the better version of myself and taking pride in what I do every day —t he wins are enough to reflect on what I want to advocate and empower other people,” she promptly responded.
