Kris Aquino reveals recent operation and shares new health update: ‘There are not so great numbers’
Kris Aquino has revealed that she underwent an operation in late September, shortly after returning to the public eye through endorsement projects and rare public appearances.
In an Instagram post on October 16, Kris opened about her health, explaining why she had stopped sharing regular health updates.
“I have stopped giving you health updates because I’ve been afraid- there are not so great numbers and can you believe a new autoimmune disease that’s exhibiting scary symptoms,” she began.
The Queen of All Media had gradually resumed work in recent months, shooting endorsements and attending an event for a face and body wash brand. However, she revealed that she had undergone an operation after completing her scheduled commitments.
One of the photos she shared showed her lying on a medical table with her doctors and nurses. The image carried the date September 29, 2026.
“I finished all the work without ever revealing that immediately after I’d have an operation,” she said.
Kris also posted behind-the-scenes photos from her endorsement shoots, where she was accompanied by her close friends Michael Leyva and RB Chanco, as well as her son, Bimby. In one of the photos, Kris enjoyed a meal together with her friends and her oldest son, Josh.
She thanked the doctors and nurses who cared for her, noting that they had been respectful of her privacy throughout the process.
“The sutures aren’t out yet, but as soon as they are, time for my 3rd infusion of a biologic immunosuppressant that has helped,” she added.
Kris also explained that her social media activity can reflect how she is feeling, saying: “Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement. If I don’t post, I am in so much pain that I’m bedridden for 5 days, or if you don’t see reels- that’s the sign, I am in need of more prayers.”
While acknowledging the support she has received from netizens for her strength, Kris credited her late mother, former president Corazon “Cory” Aquino, for helping prepare her for life’s challenges.
“I don’t want to [add] to your burdens, I’ve read you admire my strength, that’s because I witnessed what our mom went through to prepare us, for life without her. I was 38 when she joined our maker.”
“Bimb still needs more years to be ready for his lifelong responsibility of taking care of his Kuya josh. That’s why ang mama nila hindi pa pwedeng isuko ang laban. 💛❤️💙,” she ended.
Following her post, supporters shared messages of encouragement and prayers for Kris’s continued healing.
“Hi Kris! I prayed and will continue to pray for your well-being. Mine is coming from a mother’s heart. Padayon dear Kris.❤️,” one wrote.
“Prayers for your complete healing Kris. May God continue to give you strength. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼Kudos to your good, loving, and caring sons! ❤️,” another added.
Kris surprised netizens in August when she began sharing signs of her gradual return to her entertainment career. Since then, she has taken on endorsement projects and appeared on the cover of Tatler Philippines’ October issue.
Apart from sharing her health update, Kris also addressed the mocking remarks made by a host of the Machong Chismisan podcast against her son, Josh, who is on the autism spectrum.
She described the comments as “irresponsible and uninformed opinions” and explained that she chose not to state their names or her feelings so that “they didn’t get the word war” they were expecting.
In the same post, Kris also shared how Josh has been a source of strength amid her health challenges and continues to care for her as she recovers.
