Gatchalian accepts Luistro’s apology over wacky photos
MANILA – Senate President Win Gatchalian has accepted the apology of the House prosecution panel after their members took wacky photos in the Senate’s session hall.
Lead House prosecutor Rep. Gerville Luistro apologized on October 15 after taking the said pictures and explained that it was an expression of joy after the lengthy impeachment trial.
Gatchalian responded on Friday, “Well, we accept their apology. At alam naman nila dahil mga mambabatas din sila at doon sa session hall ng Congress, alam ko very strict din yung mga rules nila pagdating sa decorum.”
Gatchalian said, though, that their investigation is still ongoing to determine if the wacky photos were indeed taken, and if there were individuals who danced inside the Senate. The official report will be given to him within the day.
“May warning pa rin kasi nangyari na yun. Just to put it on record,” he mentioned.
Gatchalian maintained that their action is founded given that they are talking about the Senate.
“Session hall yun eh. In fact, at that time, court setup pa siya eh. So, just like in any court, hindi pinapayagan yung ganung decorum. Okay lang naman yung picture, alam ko, for posterity yun. Lalo na last day ng prosecution yun. But yung wacky or yung ano, nasa loob sila ng court setup eh. So, dapat maintindihan nila yan,” he explained.
Dancing in the Senate’s hallway is also frowned upon.
“Yan naman, nasa loob ng Senado. So hindi natin pinapayagan yung ganun na action sa loob ng Senado dahil nga this is the Senate. So may mga bumibisita ditong iba’t ibang galing sa iba’t ibang offices, mayroon tayong mga foreign dignitaries. Pag nakita nilang may sumasayaw sa loob, parang hindi maganda yun,” Gatchalian said.
They are still verifying if it was former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo who was seen dancing with a vlogger.
“Akala ko talaga AI eh. But I want to make sure na mayroong CCTV para sigurado tayo,” Gatchalian said.
Those who danced will also receive a warning.
