‘Lumpia Queen’ Abi Marquez shares experience as ‘MasterChef Asia’ guest judge

Abi Marquez opened up about her experience as a guest judge on MasterChef Asia.

In an Instagram post, the Filipino food content creator shared that she is still on cloud nine after getting the opportunity to be part of the cooking reality competition.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get over the fact that I got to guest judge on MasterChef Asia,” she wrote. “It’s a show I grew up watching, and it continues to inspire me now that I’m a full-time food content creator.”

Abi reflected on how her journey as a food content creator, which began with experimenting with different dishes in her kitchen, eventually led her to an opportunity she had never imagined.

“I never imagined that messing around in my kitchen four years ago, turning tinola into xiao long bao or sinigang into lumpia, would one day bring me to a kitchen I had dreamed of seeing my entire life,” she remarked.  

The “Lumpia Queen” added: “Even more surreal, I got to stand on the other side as a judge. It reminded me that the things we begin simply because we enjoy them can sometimes take us further than we ever planned.”

Abi went on to express her gratitude to everyone who has supported her journey and celebrated the milestone with her.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey and celebrated this milestone with me.  I hope you enjoy the episode as much as I enjoyed being part of it,” she said.

She also thanked her fellow judges for making her feel welcome throughout the experience.

“Thank you to my fellow judges Chef Kelvin Cheung, Chef Edward Lee, Chef Pam whom I look up to so much. You made me feel comfortable and supported throughout the experience. Sharing the judging table with you was such an honor,” she stated. 

Abi became a guest judge for MasterChef Asia’s fourth episode, which challenged contestants to transform six iconic Asian drinks into desserts.
