UAAP: Erolon comes through in crunch time as Adamson sinks La Salle

UAAP Media.MANILA — Matt Erolon came up big in crunch time as Adamson University edged De La Salle University, 63-60, to cap its first-round campaign in UAAP Season 89 men’s basketball on Sunday at the Blue Eagle Gym.

Erolon buried the go-ahead triple with 30.7 seconds left, finishing with 14 points to help the Soaring Falcons return to the win column and improve to four wins in seven games.

Matthew Montebon chipped in 11 points, while Emman Anabo added eight as Adamson avoided wasting a 13-point advantage and bounced back from its 69-67 defeat to University of the Philippines.

Jacob Cortez paced La Salle with 12 points and spearheaded a fourth-quarter rally that saw the Green Archers take the lead on multiple occasions. However, Adamson held firm down the stretch, dealing the defending champions their second straight  setback.

With the loss, La Salle dropped to three wins in seven games and joined archrival Ateneo de Manila University in a tie for sixth and seventh place in the standings.
