Rajo Laurel grateful to be part of Regine Velasquez’s journey through iconic fashion pieces: ‘My heart is filled with endless gratitude’

For Filipino fashion designer Rajo Laurel, seeing his creations displayed at Regine Velasquez’s 40th anniversary concert was a reminder of the years of trust, collaboration, and memories they have shared. 

As the Asia’s Songbird celebrates four decades in the music industry through her three-day concert series, FINALE, some of the iconic gowns Rajo created for Regine have been put on display at the lobby of the SM Mall of Asia Arena, giving concertgoers a glimpse of the singer’s fashion history. 

Regine has worn Rajo’s creations throughout the decades of her career, making the collection a reflection of their longstanding partnership. 

In an Instagram post on October 17, Rajo shared photos of the gowns alongside moments when Regine wore each piece, reflecting on the experience of seeing the creations brought together for the special occasion. 

“What an incredible feeling it is to see all these gowns we created for my dearest @reginevalcasid. I can hardly believe she kept these. Each ensemble brings back such beautiful memories, each with its own story and a special place in my heart,” he wrote. 

Beyond the gowns themselves, Rajo said the collection reminded him of the hard work behind every creation and, more importantly, the trust Regine has placed in him over the years. 

“Looking at them, I remember the countless late nights, the dedication of my small but passionate team, and all the love poured into creating every piece. But more than anything, I remember the trust, faith, and extraordinary kindness Regine has always shown me.” 

He continued: “I have been, and will always be, a Regine fan. To have had the opportunity to dress her and play even a small part in her incredible journey is something I will forever treasure.” 

Rajo ended his message with a sincere thank-you to Regine for allowing him to be part of her story, saying: “I love you so much, Regine. Thank you for believing in me, for your generosity of spirit, and for allowing me to be part of your story. My heart is filled with endless gratitude. I know this isn’t the FINALE but a perhaps the start of something even more incredible!” 

The post drew reactions from fellow celebrities and fans, many of whom praised the gowns for their timeless appeal and its association with one of the Philippines’ most celebrated singers.

Aside from Regine, Rajo has also dressed several prominent Filipino personalities throughout his career, including Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, the Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda, and Broadway icon Lea Salonga, among others.
