MANILA — The Police Regional Office 6 accounted for 57 firearms and nine explosives in police operations in Western Visayas from 6 a.m. on October 17 to 5:59 a.m. on October 18, 2026.

The operations were conducted under Project R.T.T. 3389 (Restrict, Track, Turn-in) to strengthen efforts to account for loose firearms across the region.

According to PRO6, 57 firearms were voluntarily surrendered or turned over to authorities. Police also recorded seven firearms surrendered or deposited under the implementation of the Amended Firearms and Explosives Registration System (ADFER).

PRO6 regional director Police BGen Randulf Tuaño emphasized the importance of firearm owners’ cooperation in ensuring that their weapons are properly registered and accounted for.

“We encourage firearm owners to do the right thing and make sure their firearms are properly registered and accounted for. If there are loose firearms, we ask them to voluntarily surrender or turn them over through the proper channels. This is not just about enforcement—it is about preventing firearms from being misused and keeping our communities safe,” Tuaño said.

The latest accomplishment forms part of PRO6’s continuing efforts to promote public safety and prevent the potential misuse of unregistered firearms.

The police regional office urged the public to report information on loose firearms and suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

Firearm owners were also reminded to transact only through authorized police offices for firearm registration, surrender, or turnover.

The initiative supports the PNP Focused Agenda and the vision of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman” under the leadership of PNP chief Police Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
