‘2 Valid IDs’ earns nearly P15 million at the box office

MANILA — The film “2 Valid IDs,” starring Marietta “Pokwang” Subong, Joey Marquez, Meryll Soriano and Zaijian Jaranilla, has earned nearly P15 million at the box office, according to its producers.

In a press release, the filmmakers said the movie, which made waves at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, has continued to draw audiences during its nationwide theatrical run. Unofficial box-office estimates put its earnings close to P15 million.

Directed by Ma-an L. Asuncion-Dagñalan,  “2 Valid IDs” follows Sylvia, a poor provincial farmer who seeks financial assistance for her hospitalized husband, Ramon, only to encounter a bureaucratic roadblock: the requirement for two valid IDs.

The film written by Abet Pagdagdagan Raz, and executive produced by Geo Lomuntad, the film has reportedly attracted strong audiences throughout its theatrical run, with several screenings selling out.  

At Cinemalaya 2026, “2 Valid IDs” won Best Actress for Subong, the Special Jury Prize, and the Audience Choice Award. 

The film began its theatrical release last October 14. 

The film is also gaining international exposure. “2 Valid IDs” is an official selection in the International Competition of the 41st Mar del Plata International Film Festival in Argentina and is set to screen at the 46th Hawai’i International Film Festival.
