Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo’s series ‘Tantara’ to premiere in December
Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo’s first series together, Tantara, is set to premiere on Netflix this December.
On Thursday, October 22, the streaming giant announced the show’s premiere date on social media platform X.
“Song Hye-kyo, GONG YOO, Kim Seol-hyun, and Cha Seung-won star in TANTARA. Premiering December 11,” Netflix announced.
“Set in the reckless and merciless Korean entertainment industry of the ‘60s and ‘80s, Tantara chronicles the rise of those who bet everything on their dreams,” the streaming giant added.
Fans online were quick to react to the news.
“Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo in the same drama? December 11 can’t come soon enough!” one fan commented.
“Been waiting for this!!!” another fan said.
According to a previous press release cited by ABS-CBN News in February 2025, Hye-kyo will portray Min-ja, a resilient woman who overcame a difficult childhood and is determined to establish herself in the Korean music industry.
Meanwhile, Yoo will play Dong-gu, Min-ja’s childhood friend who follows her into the music industry. Despite his reckless and unpredictable personality, Dong-gu has a soft spot for Min-ja.
Seol-hyun will take on the role of Min-hui, who has shared a love-hate relationship with Min-ja since childhood.
Seung-won, on the other hand, will portray Gil-yeo, a brilliant composer.
The series is written by acclaimed screenwriter Noh Hee-kyung, who is known for hit Korean dramas such as It’s Okay, That’s Love, and Our Blues.
Hye-kyo previously starred in the hit Korean dramas such as Autumn in My Heart, Full House, Descendants of the Sun, and the critically acclaimed series The Glory.
Meanwhile, Yoo gained widespread recognition for his role in the romance drama Coffee Prince. His other notable projects include the blockbuster zombie thriller Train to Busan and popular series such as Goblin, Squid Game, and The Trunk.
Back in January 2025, Hye-kyo debuted her shorter hairstyle in preparation for the production of the series.
“I cut my hair for my next project. It is a project by writer Noh Hee Kyung. The story is set in the ’60s and ’70s,” the actress shared in a past interview with Fairy Jaehyung on YouTube.
