PMPC names hosts, performers for 42nd Star Awards for Movies

The PMPC Star Awards Inc. is set to bring together the brightest stars and personalities in Philippine cinema for the 42nd Star Awards for Movies awards ceremony on October 25 at the Winford Resort and Casino Manila.

The newly minted Hall of Fame awardees, including “Star for All Seasons” and multi-awarded actress Vilma Santos-Recto, veteran sound engineer Albert Michael Idioma, and legendary screenwriter and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee, will headline the premier roster of attendees.

They are being inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame for winning 10 or more awards in their respective categories: Movie Actress of the Year, Movie Sound Engineer of the Year, and Movie Screenwriter of the Year.

Notably, Santos-Recto is the first actress to be inducted into the PMPC Hall of Fame in the Movie Actress of the Year category. To celebrate this occasion, her iconic onscreen leading man, Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz, and her close friend Tirso Cruz III will reunite for a special serenade and tribute performance.

The ceremony will also confer Lifetime Achievement Awards to three pillars of the local film industry:

* Megastar Sharon Cuneta will be honored with the Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award for her decades of outstanding acting work. Her daughter, singer-theater actress Kakie, will perform a special tribute number in her mother’s honor.

* Rez Cortez, a veteran actor and current President of Mowelfund, will be recognized with the Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award for his extensive industry contributions. After 50 years, this is Cortez’s first lifetime achievement award.

* Alex Muhlach, a former film producer, will receive the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions behind the camera.

Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre will be crowned this year’s Takilya King and Queen for their commercial success with “Call Me Mother,” the highest-grossing local movie in 2025. Both leads have been nominated for Movie Actor and Movie Actress of the Year.

Beauty queen Emma Tiglao, actor-model Tony Labrusca, heartthrob Jameson Blake, and actress Beauty Gonzalez will host the prestigious awards ceremony.

OPM icon and TV host Ogie Alcasid will headline the grand opening number, while Morissette, who is also nominated for New Movie Actress of the Year for “Song of the Fireflies,” will take the stage for a special solo performance.

The 42nd Star Awards for Movies are organized by the officers and members of PMPC Star Awards Inc., led by president Fernan de Guzman and Melba Llanera, this year’s chairman. The event will be directed by Vivian Poblete Blancaflor.

The event is co-produced by PMPC, Jojo Mendrez, and EV Production and Events. Mendrez expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the PMPC for their trust and cooperation this year.

PMPC has teamed up with PlayTime Entertainment for the third year in a row to promote its film, television, and music events. As the official entertainment partner, PlayTime Entertainment will present the PlayTime Fans’ Favorite Award at the ceremony.
