MANILA — Typhoon Rosal is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by early Saturday morning, according to PAGASA.

As of 10 a.m. Friday, it was already east of Taiwan, some 305 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

Rosal has weakened further, with maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

It is moving north northwestward at 15 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 remains in effect in Batanes and northeastern Babuyan Islands, where stormy conditions may still persist.

Meanwhile, Wind Signal No. 1 is still up over Cagayan and the rest of Babuyan Islands, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.

Wind signals may be lifted as Rosal moves farther away from the country.

PAGASA said Signal no. 3 could be the highest wind warning that may be raised during the Rosal’s passage.

RAINS

Gusts and some rain may still be expected in Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora.

Meanwhile, the trough or extension of the typhoon may continue to bring scattered rains over Palawan, Masbate, Visayas, Tawi-Tawi, Basilan, Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Occidental through the weekend.

On the other hand, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to have warm and humid conditions, with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening.

Rough to very rough sea conditions persist over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon down to the Bicol Region and the western seaboard of Ilocos provinces.

Sea travel for all types of vessels remains prohibited, as wave heights could reach from three meters along parts of Luzon to up to 12 meters in Batanes.

Apart from Rosal, no other weather disturbances are expected inside the PAR through next week.
