Marian Rivera, naglabas ng saloobin tungkol sa padlock rumor | Gandang Gabi, Vice!

If you’ve been following local showbiz, you’ve probably heard that rumor about Marian Rivera allegedly locking another actress inside a comfort room out of jealousy. While the issue has been circulating for years, we haven’t really heard Marian’s side of the story until she finally broke her silence and set the record straight about what really happened in the latest episode of “Gandang Gabi Vice.“

First, Marian opened up about some aspects of her relationship with Dingdong Dantes that they haven’t discussed publicly before, including why they skipped a prenuptial agreement. While she acknowledged that a prenup is a sensitive topic for couples, the actress explained that, personally, she trusted her husband enough that she didn’t feel the need to sign one. “Kasi kung umpisa pa lang ipe-prenup ko na, doon pa lang parang sinasabi ko na sa asawa ko na wala akong tiwala. Malaki ang tiwala ko sa asawa ko, parang hindi ko kailangan mag-prenup,” she explained.

And just like any other couple, DongYan has gone through their own relationship struggles, especially during their dating years. When Vice asked about the couple’s ‘fights,’ Marian recalled, “May buwan na puro lambingan, may buwan na puro away, may buwan na walang pansinan.” She went on to reveal that there was a time when she wanted to break up with Dingdong, but he wasn’t willing to let their relationship end. In moments like that, she would give him the chance to explain his side.

Fast-forward to their married life with two kids, they’re now in a much more peaceful chapter of their relationship, with little room for the kind of arguments they used to have during their boyfriend-girlfriend era, “Sa tagal na naming nagsama alam na namin ‘yung ayaw at gusto namin na ginagawa ng isa’t isa.“

What was Marian actually like as a girlfriend back when she was still the ‘selosa‘ type? We got an honest demonstration as she agreed to reenact how she would’ve handled a jealousy-inducing situation before she became the more mature Marian we know today. In the skit, she arrived on the set of Dingdong’s series, only to discover his leading lady, portrayed by Verna Periwinkle, being clingy toward him, with Vince Maristela playing Dingdong.

In the middle of the skit, Marian pulled out a padlock and dragged Verna backstage before locking the door, a playful reference to that old gossip about her allegedly locking an actress she was jealous of inside a comfort room.

When Vice asked her guest to set the record straight about the long-standing hearsay, Marian answered, “Kung ang tanong mo ay nangyari ba talaga, hindi,” saying the story that had circulated over the years was just an exaggerated version of what really happened.

In fact, as Marian revealed, she and the actress involved in the rumor have already made peace when the latter appeared on her former talk show and apologized to her. “‘Yung totoo niyan, maayos na kaming dalawa,” Marian explained, adding, “Nag-sorry siya sa akin. So, from there, alam niya na may mga nangyari na hindi naman talagang nangyari. Para sa akin, hindi ko na kailangan i-explain sa social media.“

This was the first time she had publicly addressed the “urban legend,” explaining that she didn’t speak about it before because she felt that no matter what she said, the story was already ingrained in the public’s mind. Rather than continue defending herself against the allegation, she chose to hold on to what she knows to be true and focus on the fact that she and the other actress have already resolved their differences. “Okay na ako doon. Ang mahalaga ‘pag nagkikita kami, okay na kami. At napatawad ko na siya,” she said.
