Airlines asked to review scheduled flights ahead of ASEAN Summit
MANILA — The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has asked airlines to review their scheduled flights as Manila prepares to host the 49th ASEAN Summit from November 16 to 18.
In its latest advisory, the CAB told airlines to review their scheduled operations and work with airport authorities to make sure that any flight changes are reasonably necessary to minimize public
inconvenience.
The CAB noted that the arrival of ASEAN delegates may require temporary flight adjustments and enhanced
security measures, which may affect airline flight schedules.
The agency told airlines to notify passengers at the earliest available time should their flights be cancelled or adjusted. They were also asked to make sure there are enough personnel to assist passengers in case of any flight changes.
Airlines were also advised to adhere to the provisions of the Air Passenger Bill of Rights on the rights and entitlements of affected passengers.
Passengers were also advised to closely monitor the status of their flights.
“In anticipation of possible traffic, road closures and enhanced security protocols, passengers
are also advised to allow sufficient travel time to complete check-in, security screening, and
other airport procedures,” the CAB said.
The Palace has declared November 16 to 18 as special non-working days in Metro Manila to make way for the country’s hosting of the ASEAN Summit.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has also suspended Roadworks, fun runs, and motorcades ahead of the summit.
