Thinking Port

Another port for thinking people…

Revibe wants Filipinos to take a second look at secondhand gadgets

A cheaper iPhone can be tempting, but the price is only one thing to consider when buying a renewed gadget.

The bigger question is what happens to a device before it reaches its next owner.

Revibe, a renewed-electronics marketplace in the Philippines, says its devices go through more than 60 comprehensive quality checks before they are listed. The checks cover the display, battery, cameras, speakers, microphones, connectivity, charging functions, and overall performance.

The devices are also professionally cleaned, securely data wiped, and transparently graded before they are listed for sale.

Revibe offers renewed Apple and Samsung devices, including iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Galaxy smartphones, and tablets. The company says buyers can save up to 70% compared with buying new.

The purchase also comes with a 12-month warranty, free delivery, and a 10-day return policy.

Those details matter because buying a pre-owned electronic device can come with questions about its condition and what happens if something goes wrong after the sale. Revibe gives buyers information about the device before they purchase it, along with support after the transaction.

There is also a sustainability angle. Revibe says renewing electronics extends the life of existing devices, keeping them in use for longer and helping reduce electronic waste.

For consumers, a renewed device comes with more to consider than its price. The condition of the gadget, how it was checked, and what protection comes with the purchase all become part of the decision.

For buyers wary of secondhand electronics, having a clearer picture of what they are getting may make renewed technology easier to consider.
