TRAFFIC PATROL: EDSA southbound repairs to affect 3 sections over Undas weekend

MANILA — Motorists traveling along EDSA southbound should expect temporary lane closures from Friday night, October 30, until early Monday, November 2, as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) continues the second phase of the highway’s rehabilitation.

The reblocking works will cover three sections, starting from the area after the EDSA Kamuning Flyover near NEPA Q-Mart Bus Station and extending to Guadalupe.

In an advisory, the DPWH-National Capital Region identified the affected areas as follows:

  • Area 1: After EDSA Kamuning Flyover (NEPA Q-Mart Bus Station) to after EDSA Shaw Underpass
  • Area 2: After EDSA Shaw Underpass to Boni Avenue
  • Area 3: Boni Avenue to Guadalupe

The road repairs will begin at 10 p.m. on October 30 with pavement breaking and debris hauling.

On October 31, workers will conduct base preparation, rebar installation and concrete pouring operations on a 24-hour basis.

Cutting, sealant application, curing and housekeeping activities will follow on November 1, also on a 24-hour basis.

The DPWH said repairs would be conducted on intermittent sections of the identified areas along the EDSA southbound lane.

Temporary lane closures will be implemented in the affected sections, but the remaining lanes will stay open to motorists.

All affected lanes are scheduled to reopen to traffic on Monday, November 2, at 5 a.m.

The agency advised motorists to take precautions, follow traffic management measures and use alternative routes to avoid travel disruptions.

The reblocking schedule coincides with the Undas long weekend, when more Filipinos are expected to travel to their home provinces for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
