Heidi Klum steps inside her left hand for Halloween
Heidi Klum celebrated Halloween by sliding into a giant severed replica of her left hand.
The model stopped traffic in New York as she emerged as a severed hand from a box truck, surrounded by people wearing hazmat suits. Klum said the inspiration came from actually looking at her hand.
“I was wondering if I could fit my body inside, you know, a body part that normally you obviously wouldn’t fit in. And I was looking at my hand, and I was like, hmm, I wonder if two of my fingers would be my legs. And then the rest, I could kind of put my arms in it. And we chop it off at the wrist,” said Klum.
She pitched the idea to her longtime makeup artist and, after initially being told no, he decided they could make it happen.
The mother of four posed for pictures with three of her children—Lou Sulola Samuel, Johan Samuel, and Leni Olumi Klum—on the red carpet to mark her 25th annual party.
“I never thought, obviously, 25 years ago that it would still be going, you know, 25 years later. But, you know, I love the transformation. I love watching everyone else’s transformation. You know, it’s a day of fantasy and, you know, playing someone else for the night. I think it is so fun. I love seeing everyone’s costumes. So, I think I’ll be doing it for a few more years,” Klum said.
Costumes on the red carpet ranged from classic to creative, including influencer Laura Abla dressed as Madonna from the 2003 MTV VMAs, with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera mannequins. Actor Kyle MacLachlan wore his costume from the 1994 film “The Flintstones,” while his son sported his 1977 high school letterman jacket.
Model Karen Mulder paid homage to late designer and friend Karl Lagerfeld, wearing his actual clothes.
The party was held in New York’s East Village, and Questlove served as the party’s DJ.
