Nadine Lustre reflects on what her 20s has taught her as she celebrates her birthday

Actress and singer Nadine Lustre looked back on the lessons she learned throughout her 20s as she celebrated her birthday last Saturday, October 31.

In an Instagram post, Nadine admitted that there was a time when she would look back on her younger years with regret, wishing she had done certain things differently.

“There was a time when I looked back at my 20s with so much regret. So many moments I wished I could revisit, thinking I could’ve lived them differently, or maybe better,” she wrote.

However, as the years passed, the actress found herself looking at her experiences from a different perspective, learning to appreciate the moments that helped shape the person that she is today.

“And somewhere along the way, that feeling changed,” she continued. “I found myself drawn to the light, watching the years slowly unfold in reverse. And for once, instead of wishing I could change any of it, I found myself grateful to have lived it all. Happy birthday to me 🥀”

Alongside her birthday message, Nadine released a visualizer for her new song, “10yrs,” which she wrote herself.

In a separate post, she opened up about the inspiration behind the track, reflecting on how her 20s taught her that some experiences only make sense with time. 

“I used to think life was supposed to make sense while I was living it. My 20s taught me that sometimes you have to live through the whole thing before you understand why certain versions of you had to exist. The falling, the rising, the losing, the finding. . . somehow, it all belonged,” she said.

For Nadine, the song is also a tribute to the different versions of herself throughout the decade. 

“This song is my way of honoring all the versions of me that existed through my 20s. Not for having it all figured out, but for becoming in their own time. May this song find a place in you, wherever you are in your own becoming.”

Apart from marking the occasion with new music, Nadine also celebrated with the people closest to her.

In a social media post shared by friends of Nadine and her boyfriend, Christophe Bariou, the couple was seen enjoying an intimate candlelit dinner with their loved ones. One of the highlights showed Nadine sharing a laugh with Christophe while holding a bouquet of flowers.

Her close friends also joined in the birthday greetings, including makeup artist Jelly Eugenio, who shared a funny TikTok video of Nadine taking on the “Gentleman” trend.

“halatang trentahin tayo dito but ily @nadine HBD 🎂,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Pinoy Big Brother host Bianca Gonzalez also sent her birthday wishes to the actress in the comments section: “Happy birthday @nadine! ✨️🎂🎈 KEEP INSPIRING ❤️‍🔥”
