Hwang In Youp expresses interest in starring in an ABS-CBN project: ‘If it’s approved by the Philippines’
Could Hwang In Youp be the next Korean star to lead a Filipino series?
The actor recently expressed his interest in taking on an acting project in the Philippines, particularly one with ABS-CBN.
During his To You fan meet, In Youp said he would be excited to pursue the opportunity if it gets approved by Filipino fans.
“Gusto ko ring mag-try ng exclusive (project), parang ABS-CBN. If it’s possible and if it’s approved by the Philippines. Okay siya, ’di ba?” In Youp said through his translator.
The True Beauty actor even joked that he might make an exception to his plans of retiring from schoolboy roles if the project were a Filipino series.
“35 na ako. When I graduated college, that was like 2011, so I guess tama na ’yan. I should stop… I think that’s more than enough na. When I go to different countries, different cities, that’s one answer I keep saying,” he said.
Despite his plans to move on from playing schoolboys, In Youp already has an idea of the kind of Filipino series he would love to do.
“Pero yung original school ko ay dito sa Pilipinas, di ba? Pero since original school ko ay dito sa Pilipinas, parang magandang opportunity na I can do acting, or a series with Filipinos. Parang gusto ko yung story na we’re in the same room, same classroom, tapos may magandang mellow romance. I think that would be good, right?” he added.
In the meantime, In Youp teased fans with the possibility of showing a more daring side of himself in his next drama.
“I really want to show you another side of me so I worked out really hard pero sa tingin ko kulang siya eh. Sa tingin ko for the next drama. I will work harder to show you a better physique and body. Kaya sa next meeting ganon wait niyo na lang,” In Youp shared through an interpreter.
When asked if fans could expect to see him shirtless in his next project, In Youp gave a hopeful “I think so,” raising expectations for what he has in store for his upcoming drama.
The 18 Again star also opened up about his upcoming series Human x Gumiho, where he will take on a villainous role alongside fellow K-drama star Ji Chang Wook.
“Yung role ko rito ay medyo dark, and I think the role that I have will be loved by lots of my fans. And the actor that was with me in the series is Ji Chang Wook,” he shared.
Before wrapping up, In Youp assured Filipino fans that he would gladly return to the Philippines whenever they wanted to see him again, promising to make time for them despite his upcoming projects and international schedules.
“With no joke, if you keep looking for me and wanting me here, I can come back here anytime,” he said.
The K-drama star’s recent fan meet was also filled with kilig moments as he delighted fans with up-close interactions and special surprises. The event was presented by L-Squared Productions PH.
