Lovi Poe shares how motherhood made her a better actress: ‘I have a deeper purpose’

It’s been almost a year since she first gave birth to her daughter Sloane and actress Lovi Poe continues to be thankful for the joy of experiencing motherhood for the first time with her husband Monty Blencowe. The Star Magic talent admitted that becoming a mom not only changed her as a person, but also helped make her into a better actress.

“I think I have a deeper meaning now. I feel like I have this deeper understanding about life and I have a deeper purpose. I feel like this is something that, I would like to use the word beneficial, as an actress because talagang I didn’t realize how my art could stretch and how my heart had expanded. And it’s just like now I know a different layer of emotions now that I have a daughter. And I just have nothing but love. It’s like a different experience for me,” she told PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview during The New Nocturnals Halloween ball event held last October 29 at the Manila Peninsula hotel in Makati City.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News earlier this month, Lovi reflected on going through her first year of motherhood. “It was brutal talaga. The rotation every three hours—she wakes up, I feed her then burp her. Then patulog na siya patulog ka na, but then kailangan mo gumising. I enjoyed all of it. There are so many sacrifices but there is just willingness you never thought you would have suddenly you are open doing them. Ang bilis ng time. She is already saying so many things walking already. I try to savor everything but you cant savor enough,” she said. “It is so nice seeing her growing up. But at the same time I want to keep this side of her.”

Known as one of the country’s most fashionable showbiz personalities, Lovi explained why she had no plans to change her style when she entered motherhood.

“I think I’m still the same me. I feel like I guess I’ve just added a different layer to myself and I think that’s the thing about being a mom right? Things don’t necessarily have to change who you are, you just add something even better to it,” she said.

After a whole year of taking care of her first child, the 35-year-old artist shared what she discovered about her herself now that she is a parent, “Oh I didn’t know I could be, I feel like I am, that I could be this nurturing. I’m usually aloof as a person. But now, I am more vocal and more expressive of my emotions.”
