Lordan Suan has categorically denied claims on social media insinuating he would file a “shoot-to-kill” resolution for Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who remains in hiding from an International Criminal Court warrant for his arrest.
House resolutions, if adopted, express the chamber’s position or sentiment on an issue. They do not have the force of law and cannot compel action by the executive department.
“I categorically deny having made any statement warning that I would convene a House committee hearing or file a so-called ‘shoot-to-kill’ resolution if Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa fails to surrender in connection with matters involving an International Criminal Court arrest warrant,” he said in a statement to media.
“I have never issued such a warning, nor have I advocated, threatened, or contemplated any such action,” he said.
Suan, a prosecutor in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, said he “firmly” believes in due process and the rule of law.
“I do not, and will not, engage in rhetoric that undermines these foundations of our democracy or endangers public order,” he said.
He said the claims online are fabricated and have no basis on any statements, interviews, remarks he has made, or legislative actions he has taken.
“Such disinformation is harmful not only to my name and office but to the public’s right to accurate information,” he said.
He urged the public to verify information with official sources, including his social media accounts and those of the House of Representatives.
