UnionBank chief is among Forbes Asia’s Power Businesswomen 2025

MANILA — UnionBank chief executive officer Ana Maria Aboitiz Delgado has made it to Forbes Asia’s list of Power Businesswomen 2026.

Forbes noted that Delgado took the helm at UnionBank after the lender acquired Citibank’s Philippine consumer banking business for P72 billion ($1.3 billion at the time).

The publication said UnionBank saw its net profit jump 53 percent to P9.9 billion, on the back of more consumer lending and higher fees from wealth management services.

“The acquisition strengthened our consumer franchise, expanded our capabilities and talent base, and gave us greater scale to serve a broader range of customer needs,” Delgado said. “Banking should be easier, more relevant, and more human,” she further noted.

Forbes said the women it honored are “hard-charging achievers who are helping to shape the region’s economic transformation through a period of global volatility.”

Last year, Robinsons Land president Mybelle Aragon-GoBio and Ayala Corp. managing director Mariana Zobel de Ayala were on the Power Businesswomen list.

Other Filipinas who previously made the list are Megaworld President Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso are Converge ICT co-founder Maria Grace Uy.
