EXCLUSIVE: Here’s what ‘Lumpia Queen’ Abi Marquez still hopes to do in her career

Despite the milestones she has achieved in recent years, food content creator Abi Marquez believes there is still so much more she wants to learn and accomplish in her career.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Abi shared her desire to further explore Filipino cuisine and learn more about the dishes and stories that make up the country’s rich food culture.

“I really want to learn more. I admittedly want to learn more about Filipino cuisine, it feels like something that the more I learn about it, the less I know. I also want to thank people and right now there’s a lot of good things and creators coming up and I’m so happy because I feel like mas maraming kami mga proud to share and make content meaningful content about our culture,” Abi expressed.

Known as the “Lumpia Queen,” Abi also looked back on her early days as a content creator and expressed her desire to help those who are just starting their own journeys.

“When I was starting, I didn’t know about a lot of things but now when I see new creators, I feel like ‘Halika dito, turuan kita!’ Parang ganoon na ganoon yung gusto ko mangyari and I just wanna keep doing what I do which is making videos, that’s really what I’m good at,” Abi happily said.

As she continues to grow in the industry, Abi hopes to further develop her skills in cooking so she can share more meaningful content with her audience.

“I wanna better myself in the skill and craft of cooking because I wanna be able to share that in my videos kasi hindi naman talaga yung mission. It has always been sharing my love for food through cooking, teaching people, teaching the younger generations to cook the food that we grew up with and sharing the recipes and our stories in the global,” she expressed.

Meanwhile, Abi also recalled a full-circle moment when she returned to her alma mater, the University of the Philippines, to receive recognition at this year’s The EdukCircle Awards.

“It means a lot kasi UP was my second home and I knew I remember all the struggles and everything that UP stands for when I was still in college and so to be invited back in UP after four years now hindi na as a estudyante but as an awardee of a very credible organization in there and for an award such as this influential social media personality it’s so crazy,” Abi stated.

The recognition also reminded Abi of the time she began creating content while navigating the uncertainty of pursuing an unconventional career.

“It makes me look back to that year when I started content creation and that’s also the same year as my graduation na kine-question ko na tama ba yung ginagawa ko kasi it’s such an unconventional job—content creation—and I was going through the difficulty of applying for internships and management trainings in companies tapos, ano yun parang certain moments na, I am okay and I am glad that I trusted my heart,” she added.

Moreover, Abi recently received a Gold Stevie at the International Business Awards in Paris. In her recent update, Abi took pride in being recognized with other prominent names around the world.

“To be recognized alongside businesses from around the world means a lot, especially in an industry where people still think it’s ‘pa-vlog vlog lang.’ Behind the content are real people, real work, and real businesses. Building businesses out of creativity, making a living doing what we love, and creating opportunities for others along the way,” she wrote.
