Ruffa Gutierrez shares why she chooses to be single for now
Ruffa Gutierrez opened up about her current relationship status.
“I am free as a bird. I am single… I am not dating. Ang dami kong textmates, ang daming nagpapakilig sa akin,” she said in an interview with Boy Abunda on Fast Talk.
The actress shared that finding a romantic partner is not a priority for her at the moment, emphasizing that she is happy being on her own.
“I am actually very picky right now. At kung may ini-entertain man ako, special na ‘yung taong ‘yun para sa akin because I’m happy on my own. I think that’s the most important,” she said.
The actress explained that her preferences in relationships have become more defined as she has grown older.
“As we get older we become more picky, marami na tayong quirks, and I love being alone and if it doesn’t fit my idea of what I want in life then I don’t want to change for that person,” she pointed out.
She went on to share that she wants to enjoy being single after spending several years in a long-term relationship.
“I have a very youthful, fun personality but I just want to take my time because I was in a very, very long relationship for many, many years so I just want to be single for now. And it’s my personal choice,” she said.
Ruffa also opened up about her relationship with former boyfriend Herbert Bautista, revealing that they have maintained their friendship despite their breakup.
“We are still friends; we communicate regularly. Kung may advice akong kailangan kinakausap ko pa rin siya and minsan tumatawag din siya sa akin but I have not seen him face to face since we broke up last year,” she relayed.
The actress also acknowledged Herbert’s influence on her decision to pursue further education, expressing appreciation for the friendship they have maintained.
“He encouraged me to go back to school, nag-college ako, nag-Master’s ako dahil sa kanya. And I think even more than that, we have a very solid friendship so maganda,” she said. “So whatever it is, ang imporante magkaibigan kami… And we talk pero in terms of having a relationship, ang puso ko I am single right now.”
In the same interview, Ruffa was also asked whether she is strict when it comes to the romantic relationships of her daughters, Lorin and Venice.
“Wala silang love life so hindi ako strict. They are actually late bloomers at kung meron man alam kong pipili sila ng maayos, disente, ‘yung mamahalin sila, and prayerful. ‘Yun lang sinasabi ko sa kanila, ‘yung someone with the right values,” she said.
