Matibag, in an interview with reporters, said, “Ang crematory is nandidiyan sa Cavite pero meron siyang inorderan nung pang-cremate. Pero hindi na-deliver. So ang ginagawa, dinadala doon sa Bulacan at ngayon yung sa Bulacan, di nila ma-accommodate. Ang decision, ibinaon nila.”
“Mag-asawa ito eh,” Matibag continued. “May kausap sila hindi naman binaon, tinapon na lang.”
He said they are tracking the two individuals who were supposed to bury the pets.
The NBI has established the relationship between the contracted couple and Ahjay Paws Aftercare Pet Crematorium in Cavite.
“Nila-Lalamove lang nila (yung dead pets),” Matibag mentioned. He said the delivery platform did not know that it was transferring pet remains because these were placed inside sacks and plastic bags.
Matibag said the husband and wife surrendered to the NBI on Wednesday, have given their statement, and are willing to testify.
The NBI will forward the complaints to the Department of Justice (DOJ), which will determine who can be considered a state witness.
Matibag said a total of 49 dead pets were associated with the husband and wife, which includes the more than 20 recently discovered in Barangay Minuyan Proper.
The NBI chief said the transport of pet remains may violate sanitation permit and environmental laws.
The agency is also looking at possible estafa and violation of the Consumer Protection Act.
