Star Magic releases statement against ‘online bullying’ of PBB housemates
Star Magic, the talent management arm of ABS-CBN, condemned the online bullying and harassment that several Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab 3.0 housemates are currently facing on social media. In a statement shared on their official social media accounts, the talent management urged viewers and netizens to be more respectful with their words.
The statement comes after several netizens expressed their opinions with the statement made by It’s Showtime host Cianne Dominguez against her fellow Kapamilya housemate, Jeo Ong. Other netizens have also pointed out the assumption of Cianne and Shea Valerio about several housemates being paired into love teams–– something that didn’t sit right with them.
“Star Magic strongly condemns the online bullying, harassment, and personal attacks directed toward Cianne Dominguez, Shea Valerio and other Pinoy Big Brother housemates,” Star Magic said in a statement.
The talent arm of the Kapamilya network acknowledged that opinions are part of the show, but the hate shouldn’t be tolerated.
“While public opinions and criticisms are part of reality television, they should never be an excuse for hate or cruelty,” they maintained.
“We encourage everyone to practice responsible social media engagement and remember that differences in opinion should always be met with respect and compassion,” they ended.
Netizens expressed their thoughts in the comment section of Star Magic’s post on Instagram–– weighing the good and bad sides of having the 24/7 livestream available for everyone. Other netizens threw their support towards the Kapamilya housemates and are hopeful that viewers wouldn’t make such hateful comments anymore.
Previously, the hit reality television program also warned netizens about the use of AI-generated content on the housemates.
“We do not tolerate the unauthorized creation, manipulation, or distribution of A.I. generated content that uses the likenesses of the PBB Collab 3.0 Housemates. We emphasize that no website, social media page, or individual is authorized to use, reproduce, or manipulate the images, voices, or likenesses of our housemates,” PBB said in a statement.
