Oscar-winning actress and global advocate Angelina Jolie is heading to Manila for the 2026 ASEAN Inclusive Growth Summit on November 11.

According to the website of the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, Angelina will be one of the speakers at the session titled “From memory to possibility: Cambodia, courage and the power of staying,” alongside filmmaker Rithy Panh.

The Center for Inclusive Growth highlighted Jolie’s decades-long commitment to Cambodian communities, emphasizing how her collaboration with Panh, including their work on the film First They Killed My Father, reflects the importance of trust, community-led solutions, and lasting change.

The 2026 ASEAN Inclusive Growth Summit will gather “leaders from business, government, civil society, and philanthropy” in Manila to “explore how to turn volatility into opportunity and unlock the next wave of inclusive economic growth.”

In a September 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Angelina revealed plans to spend more time in Cambodia when her children turn 18 years old.

“I grew up in this town (Los Angeles). I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she said at the time.

The actress added: “When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be… that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here. [After Los Angeles,] I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”

During the same interview, the actress also opened up about her future filmmaking plans.

“There are some bigger directing projects that would take longer that I haven’t been able to do. The one sitting at my desk now, a big epic that’s on my mind, the wonderful story of [British photojournalist] Don McCullin,” she relayed at that time.

She went on: “In many ways, it’s about the rise and fall of journalism. Don’s an extraordinary man. He’s still around, and he’s become a friend and he’s amazing in what he’s seen. I would love to spend time and trace his steps and maybe learn more. I’m a terrible student. If I have to just read something, I don’t get it at all. But if I experience it or meet somebody and it’s personal, then I understand.”
