Olivia Rodrigo releases her first Christmas song ‘Take Me Home (4 Christmas)’
Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo is getting into the holiday spirit with the release of her first Christmas song, “Take Me Home (4 Christmas),” on Friday, November 6 (Philippine time).
“‘Take Me Home (4 christmas)’ is out now!!! I wrote this song with @dan_nigro and Amy Allen last summer and I’m so happy it’s finally close to Christmastime so I can share it with you guys lol!” she posted on her Instagram page on the release day of the song.
She went on: “Huge shoutout to @benmarshallstyle and @cynthiaenixon who are my favorite canonical red heads and who are absolutely amazing in this vid! Merry Christmas yall!!!”
The music video features Olivia portraying a character who spends the holiday season with her partner’s family. She stars alongside Cynthia Nixon and Ben Marshall in the video.
Fans were quick to express their excitement over the new holiday track.
“Filipino Malls will have Olivia Rodrigo music for Christmas on repeat,” one fan commented.
“This song literally transported me into a 2000s teen christmas movie intro. We are being SO fed this year omg,” another fan said.
Olivia released her latest album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, on June 12.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the singer expressed her excitement about finally sharing the album with the public after spending a considerable amount of time working on it.
“I’ve just been living with this album for so long and working on it so painstakingly, and so to put it out into the world and watch people react to it and watch people embrace it and enfold it into their lives is just really such an honor, and it’s been very, very joyful for sure,” she said.
The Grammy-winning singer also reflected on how her creative process has evolved over the years, saying that she has become more confident in expressing her artistic vision.
“I think it’s just as I get older, I get so much clearer on what I want and what my tastes are and what I want to say, and so yeah, it definitely gets more fun. It’s more fun now than it ever was for sure,” she stated.
Compared to her previous albums, Sour and Guts, Olivia believes her latest release reflects her personal growth and greater emotional maturity.
“I mean, so much has changed. I think you know, I’ve been putting out albums since I was 17, and so the difference between a 17-year-old album and a 22-year-old album is quite stark, but I just think I have hopefully a little bit more emotional maturity and, you know, can look deeper and be more introspective in a way that’s slightly more intelligent, here’s to hoping, so yeah, I’d say all those things,” she said.
Olivia kicked off her latest concert tour, The Unraveled Tour, in September.
