KZ Tandingan, Ben&Ben, Al James Collaborate on Song “Sumabay Ka”

For the 10th year, OPM artists are sharing a platform together to uplift Filipino music. KZ Tandingan, Ben&Ben and Al James have come together on one album for the 10th season of Coke Studio, leading with the song “Sumabay Ka.”

In a span of almost a decade, the show has celebrated the local music scene with the participation of 75 Filipino acts, producing multiple hits by Sarah Geronimo, Moira Dela Torre and Apl.de.Ap, and most recently “Blooming” by BINI.

From intimate stages to bigger platforms, OPM has been provided a space to prosper through the opportunities given to artists to be seen and heard. In the show’s latest iteration, Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ, folk-pop band Ben&Ben and rapper Al James take center stage with these four songs, taking on the theme Dinig Ang Pinas:

Sumabay Ka

Mainly doing different genres, the three artists unite for this upbeat, welcoming anthem that showcases each of their unique, individual qualities while still forming a cohesive song. Like many songs from the show, Sumabay Ka exudes a feel-good energy that suits the “refreshing” label of the brand

Bugsay

It’s not a KZ Tandingan song if she’s not showing her soulful, vocal prowess, and this song provides exactly that, plus a rap verse that shows her cool, sharp side. In Bugsay, the singer embraces her Davao roots as the song combines the Bisaya and Tagalog languages.

Ride Slow

The hitmaker that he is, Al James delivers another earworm with this breezy hip-hop song. The title Ride Slow is perfect for an anthem that will surely hit the spot as it plays while you’re on a drive.

Baybayin

One thing about Ben&Ben is they will bring a cinematic feel to their songs, and this one gives you that right off the intro. From the built-up start, Baybayin transitions into a light, guitar-driven song with a sound that is distinctly Ben&Ben. The chorus is a call back to the band’s song with Sam Concepcion on the second season of the show, “Balik-Balikan.”
