Bataan villages flooded due to strong rains

PILAR, BATAAN – Rains have triggered floods as high as four feet that swept through three Bataan municipalities on Thursday (June 14), according to the Bataan provincial disaster risk reduction and management office.

Only large vehicles were able to pass through the McArthur Highway in Barangays (villages) Del Rosario and Balut II in this town.

Barangay Almacen in Hermosa town suffered floodwaters as high as two feet, but light vehicles were allowed to pass through the road there.

In the low-lying villages of Pita and Sapang Balas in Dinalupihan town, floods rose by two and three feet due to water coming from the mountains.

A landslide struck the mountainous village of Ipag in Mariveles town, but no one was reported hurt./lb
