Ex-Kalinga lawmaker Manuel Agyao dies at 77

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – All government offices and schools here raised their flags at half-mast to mourn the passing of former Kalinga province lawmaker Manuel Agyao on Friday morning (June 22).

Agyao, 77, a civil engineer, died of complications due to acute pneumonia at 5:30 a.m.

“The former congressman had been undergoing dialysis in the past months,” said Regie Wacas, media officer of Kalinga Rep. Allen Jesse Mangaoang.

Known as “Lao-ing,” Agyao was a former regional director and assistant secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Born on December 8, 1941, Agyao represented Kalinga’s lone district during the 14th, 15th and 16th Congresses. VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
