Beermen run over NLEX for 5th win

Defending champion San Miguel Beer battered a depleted Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) into submission, 125-114, on Saturday for its fifth victory after nine games in Season 43 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup at the Calasiao Sports Complex in Pangasinan.

Marcio Lassiter’s three-point shooting prowess proved crucial in the victory. Lassiter notched 15 of his 26 points in the third quarter.

Four-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo tallied 30 points and 13 rebounds while import Renaldo Balkman contributed 25 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and four steals to help San Miguel Beer improve its win-loss record to 5-4.

Alex Cabagnot had 17 points while Chris Ross finished with 12 points on top of eight assists also for San Miguel Beer.

Former Batang Pier Kelly Nabong, hampered by foul trouble, scored just two points in 13 minutes of play.

NLEX suffered its eighth loss in 10 games despite the hefty 43 points and 14 rebounds output of import Arnett Moultrie.

Veteran Paul Asi Taulava scored 18 points also for the Road Warriors.
