Magnitude 4.8 quake jolts Agusan del Norte

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake hit Agusan del Norte on Sunday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said the earthquake struck west of Tubay, Agusan del Norte at 5:41 p.m. It had a depth of 02 kilometers and had a tectonic origin.

Intensity II was felt in Surigao City, which experienced a magnitude 4.2 quake earlier in the day at around 2:49 p.m.

Tremors were also felt at Intensity IV in Cabadbaran City, Agusan Del Norte and at Intensity II in Cagayan de Oro City.

Despite the high magnitude  recorded, Phivolcs said no damage or no aftershocks are expected. /ee
