Sister of slain drug lord gunned down in Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY— The elder sister of slain alleged drug lord Richard Prevendido was gunned down on Sunday afternoon at the family-owned resort in Barangay Igcadlum in San Joaquin town.

Remia Prevendido-Gregori, the village chief of Barangay Bakhaw in Mandurriao District, died from multiple gunshot wounds after she was shot by unidentified gunmen, according to Senior Supt. Marlon Tayaba, Iloilo police director.

According to reports, at least two gunmen casually approached Gregori around 4:20 p.m. at the resort where her family was spending the Feast of St. John the Baptist.

They fled after the shooting, Tayaba said.

Gregori was tagged as a “high-value target” for her alleged involvement in illegal drugs, although the drug cases against her did not prosper. Some of her children have been arrested or are facing arrest also for alleged involvement in the illegal drugs trade, according to Tayaba.

In September last year, police gunned down Richard Prevendido in a raid in his house in Jaro District in Iloilo City. /ee
