Chinese trader abducted in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY—A Chinese businessman was abducted in Cabuyao City in Laguna province on Sunday, a report from the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police said on Monday. The victim, a 30-year-old Chinese engaged in stainless steel trading, was taken in Barangay Banlic at 11:45 a.m. by a group aboard a van. Supt. Arvin Avelino, Cabuyao police chief, confirmed the incident but he declined to give details. He said the police’s Anti-Kidnapping Group, based in Camp Crame, had taken over the case. —MARICAR CINCO
