19-yr-old student killed in anti-drug operation in Isabela

A 19-year-old student suspected of involvement in illegal drugs was killed in an encounter with the police in Isabela.

Genesis Tumumba, who was from Alfonso Lista, Ifugao, with his two other companions reportedly engaged the cops in a firefight, resulting in the death of Tumumba on the spot.

Authorities captured one of his cohorts, Adriano Ganer, while the other, Patrick Ganer, managed to escape.

According to San Mateo Police Chief Inspector Richard Gatan, an asset reported a recently completed transaction with the suspects which prompted them to conduct the operation.

The police recovered a 9-millimeter pistol and 2 sachets of suspected dried marijuana leaves from the crime scene. /je
