‘Henry’ maintains strength, to make landfall in Cagayan on Monday night–Pagasa

TROPICAL depression “Henry” maintained its strength and is expected to make landfall in the northern part of Cagayan on Monday night, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

“Henry is expected to pass in the vicinity of Babuyan Islands and make landfall in Northern Cagayan this evening,” weather specialist Nikos Penaranda said in a press briefing.

As of 12 noon, the tropical depression was 415 kilometers (km) east of Calayan, Cagayan as it packed winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 65 kph.

Henry is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday evening, Penaranda said.

Signal No. 1 remains raised over Batanes, the northern portion of Cagayan, including Babuyan Group of Islands, northern portion of Apayao, and northern portion of Ilocos Norte with occasional gusty winds of 30 to 60 kilometers per hour (kph) expected in 36 hours.

Yellow rainfall warning was also raised over Zambales and Bataan, which means flooding is possible in low lying areas due to the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are affecting Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon. GLEE JALEA
