Drug bust nets mother, 3 kids in Marikina City

Six people, including a mother and her three children, were arrested for drug pushing and possession in Marikina City on Monday evening.

A report sent to Chief Supt. Bernabe Balba, Eastern Police District (EPD) director, identified those arrested as Georgie Mamis, 19; Virgilio Paguinto, 18; Vergie Santos, 43; her children Ernie Santos, 20; Margie Santos, 23; and Dimple Santos, 18.

Mamis was the Santoses’ close friend while Paguinto was their neighbor at Barangay Tumana.

The six were arrested by members of the Marikina City police’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and EPD personnel.

PO4 Elmer Rigonan of the Marikina police DEU said that Dimple was the initial target
of the entrapment operation which took place in front of the house of the Santos family.

Ongoing drug session

However, the undercover policeman who acted as a buyer saw that other people in the house were having a drug session.

Recovered from the suspects were six sachets of “shabu” (crystal meth) and P500 in cash.

Rigonan said their customers included teenagers, drivers and laborers.

The suspects were taken to the Marikina police headquarters and detained on charges of conspiring to sell drugs and drug possession.—WITH A REPORT FROM SAMMY WESTFALL
