2 more SC justices accept nominations for Chief Justice — JBC
TWO more Supreme Court justices accepted their nominations for Chief Justice, the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) said on Wednesday.
Associate Justices Diosdado Peralta and Andres Reyes Jr. accepted their nominations, said the JBC, which screens the candidates.
This brings to three the number of nominees for the top post at the high tribunal, which was declared vacant after then Maria Lourdes Sereno was ousted after the en banc granted a quo warranto petition that questioned the validity of her appointment in 2012.
In his petition, Solicitor General Jose Calida claimed that Sereno failed to fully comply with the requirements of the position, casting doubt on her integrity.
Associate Justice Lucas Bersamin accepted the nomination earlier on Wednesday. JOMAR CANLAS
