Blogger indicted for libel for calling 7 senators Palace ‘lapdogs’

A BLOGGER who was sued for libel for calling seven senators Malacanang “lapdogs” for not signing a resolution condemning drug-related killings involving minors was indicted before a local prosecutor’s office.

Edward Angelo “Cocoy” Dayao, believed to be behind “SilentNoMorePH” on Facebook, identified the senators as Vicente Sotto 3rd, before he was Senate President; Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel 3rd, Richard Gordon, Manny Pacquiao, Gregorio Honasan 2nd, Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Cynthia Villar as refusing to sign Resolution 516 denouncing the killings of alleged drug dealers.

Dayao was indicted following a complaint, which Sotto filed under Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, at the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office on November 28, 2017.

Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Alan Mangabat recommended the filing of libel against Dayao, which Senior Deputy City Prosecutor Dolores Rillera approved.

A bail of P72,000 was set by the court. JEFFERSON ANTIPORDA
