Alleged drug pusher killed, another nabbed in Lucena

LUCENA CITY – An alleged drug pusher was killed and another was arrested in simultaneous police operations here early Sunday.

The police said Rainier “Migs” Magadia was being arrested in Barangay (village) Ibabang Iyam around 3 a.m. when he allegedly drew a gun and shot at an arresting officer.

He had reportedly just sold shabu to an undercover policeman acting as a drug buyer.

The policeman retaliated and shot the suspect who was killed on the spot.

In Barangay Dalahican, Nelson “Sawa” Hernandez was collared by a combined team from the local drug enforcement unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority.

Armed with a search warrant, the authorities raided the house of Hernandez and his son Ronel in Purok (zone) 5 at about 3 a.m.

A police report said Ronel, who is also allegedly involved in illegal drug activities, was not around during the operation.

The raiders seized nine plastic sachets of shabu weighing 6.2 grams and a digital weighing scale. With a gram of shabu now worth P5,000 in the streets, the seized drugs could easily fetch P31,000.

The suspects were among the targeted drug pushers in the area who have been supplying shabu and marijuana to dock workers, fishers, tricycle drivers and students. /cbb
