Two LPAs sighted off Luzon

The weather bureau is tracking two low pressure areas (LPAs) east and west of the country.

The LPA on the eastern side was last monitored 1,280 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.

Weather forecaster Meno Mendoza said this LPA was likely to intensify into a tropical depression but would not make landfall in the country.

The LPA on the western side was last spotted 615 kilometers west of Subic, Zambales. This weather disturbance is not expected to intensify.

The southwest monsoon continues to affect Southern Luzon and the Visayas.

Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, MIMAROPA, and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms or rainshowers. /cbb
