Magnitude 3.5 quake hits Eastern Samar

A magnitude 3.5 earthquake hit Eastern Samar at past noon on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The quake struck 14 kilometers northwest of Borongan City, Eastern Samar at 1:38 p.m., according to an updated report by Phivolcs.

Borongan and the town of Maydolong also felt an Intensity III tremor.

Catbalogan City and the towns of Llorente and San Julian felt an Intensity II quake.

The agency said no damage and aftershocks could be expected from the earthquake incident.

Phivolcs reported that the quake had a depth of 26 kilometers and tectonic origin.
